Ice-Veil Original Fabric Tail
There are stretches of northern ocean where the water freezes into endless sheets of ice.
Over time, the sailors learned to avoid these parts of the ocean, not because of the cold, but because of what waits for them below the surface.
Iceveil does not hunt the creatures of the sea… fish pass beneath them untouched, and even the great predators of the north are ignored. They have no interest in them. They wait for something else. They wait for ships.
Iceveil drifts just beneath the frozen surface, their back blending seamlessly with the ice above them. Their camouflage makes them impossible to see. Nothing would be suspected.
Only stillness exists.
When a ship passes too close to the frozen water, Iceveil rises with it…. silent, unseen, matching its movement from below. Sometimes the first sign is a sound, a faint knock against the hull, too soft to mean anything at first… and then another, closer. The water remains calm. The ice does not break. And yet, something is there.
By the time the sailors realize they are not alone, it is already too late. Iceveil does not need to shatter the ship. They only need to take one. A person at the edge, a hand dipping into the water, a moment of curiosity, is all it takes.
The ocean barely moves when they strike. A small disturbance exists in the moment, and then nothing. There is no struggle, no sound, but only the slow drift of broken ice, and a ship that continues on, lighter than it was before.
Iceveil then returns to settle beneath the frozen surface, their form once again indistinguishable from the ice above. They wait, because the sea always brings more.
